Latest Reviews"Crimson-purple; has a dusting of spice and pepper on the plum and blackberry fruit of the bouquet; the palate has very good texture and length, the fruit flavours enhanced by spot-on picking." Rated 94 James Halliday - 2011 Australian Wine Companion "It smells fresh and sweet, but boy, does it deliver a mouthful of yummy flavour. It's got softness, impact and character. It tastes of plums, raisins, cherries and dried herbs, and when you swallow it leaves an aftertaste of hazelnuts, spice and fresh, ripe berries. Super drinking." 92 Points. ![2005 Postcode [2587] Cabernet Sauvignon](images/upload/3-2005.jpg)
Region: Hilltops (NSW)
Alcohol: 14.0%
Winemaker: Rhys Eather
Philosophy: For the POSTCODE label we select fruit to make wines that clearly show their “postcode” by exhibiting true regional and varietal character.
Fruit Source: 15 year old vineyard located at Kingsvale in the Hilltops region.
Winemaking: The fruit was trucked to Pokolbin overnight and fermented in open vats. The ferment was plunged and pumped over daily and once finished, pressed and transferred into a combination of French and American oak. After 15 months the wine was lightly fined and bottled under screwcap.
Winemakers notes: Kingsvale was still experiencing quite dry conditions during the 2005 vintage which kept the yields very low. The fruit was in turn ripe and clean and has resulted in a wine of great varietal definition.
On the nose there are scents of earth, blackcurrant and an underlying mintiness that one could attribute to the region. The blackcurrant continues onto the palate which is clean and round making for a great drink.
A year in bottle will see great improvement in this wine which will hold well for five years.

"The grapes come from Kingsvale, Postcode 2587, how clever and in the salubrious surrounds of a roadside motel, or the lonely lympic village, there's nothing like a nice red to keep you company." 8.4 / 10
