Latest Reviews"Crimson-purple; has a dusting of spice and pepper on the plum and blackberry fruit of the bouquet; the palate has very good texture and length, the fruit flavours enhanced by spot-on picking." Rated 94 James Halliday - 2011 Australian Wine Companion "It smells fresh and sweet, but boy, does it deliver a mouthful of yummy flavour. It's got softness, impact and character. It tastes of plums, raisins, cherries and dried herbs, and when you swallow it leaves an aftertaste of hazelnuts, spice and fresh, ripe berries. Super drinking." 92 Points. Wines & Tasting Notes |
![2004 Postcode [2320] Shiraz](images/upload/2-2004.jpg)
Region: Hunter Valley (NSW)
Alcohol: 13.5%
Winemaker: Rhys Eather
Philosophy: For the POSTCODE label we select fruit to make wines that clearly show their “postcode” by exhibiting true regional and varietal character.
Fruit Source: Mature vineyard in Pokolbin yielding below 2 tonnes per acre.
Winemaking: Handpicked fruit was fermented in open vats and plunged twice daily. After pressing, the wine was transferred into a combination of French and American oak for 18 months maturation before being bottled under natural cork in November 2005.
Winemakers notes: No other region shows itself more distinctly than the Hunter Valley when Shiraz is concerned. The warm climate combined with red basalt soils produce richly flavoured wines at respectable alcohol levels.
The nose has plum and red berry scents with subtle oak influence. The palate while medium-bodied shows considerable length of flavour and is flush with supple fruit and tannin.
Drinking wonderfully now but will hold for a few years to come.
